New Slide gate installation 2015

New Slide gate installation January/February 2015

Here is the blank slate, ready to start, Gate posts have been set

Next We dig in the conduit to connect a Door King keypad for entrance credential

Keypad post is in , and landscape repaired

Installing the fence and gate
( Gate and Fence was fabricated and installed by Genos Overhead Doors and Gates Palm Springs)

Installing Conduit and preparing to pour operator pad

This is the first time we have used wireless vehicle detectors instead of a conventional in ground loop detectors, at the end of this project we were impressed with the capability and functionality of these devices , the most difficult part was drilling the 2" hole through the asphalt.

We chose a HySecurity Slide smart operator for this project, wiring and programming is very straight forward

Complete and fully operational with a Tomar strobe for Fire Department entrance

Gate Enhancement Project

Gated communities find that they need better security to keep traffic into their communities controlled to only people that are allow in. One of the weak points in many communities is the exit lane, while the gate is open it   can be a free for all with traffic going in through the exit.

Spike strips are the solution for that

First we jackhammer out the existing concrete and excavate enough below to add 8 inches of gravel below the spike strips for drainage

Then place the spike strips on the prepared surface , and pour a concrete apron around them

Here is the finished product

The next area that we look at to eliminate unwanted entries to the community is the entry gate, once the gate is open it is a free for all, to gain entry all you have to do is wait for a resident, or someone that has been given access to open the gate.
To eliminate this we install barrier arms across the entryway, this way we can stop traffic to a single vehicle per access granted.

First we excavate for footings to anchor the barrier arms to

Behind the curb irrigation lines are always a problem and have to be dealt with

OK now there is room for a footing to be formed up

Here is the barrier arm as it is mounted on the footing

Sirit 4100 Transponder Reader, and Continental Access Installation

Site installation January/February  2012
Day 1

Review site, and installation locations
verify material needs.

Day 2

Excavate locations for Mast installation
Prepare for pulling antenna interconnect cable
Re-Run temporary comm data for existing prox card system

Day 3
Install and cement Mast post

Day 4/5

With the Mast poles installed it is time to start mounting the hardware, and prepare the Sirit readers.
The mounting brackets that come with the Sirit readers are only capable of being attached with a 1 1/2 in pole.So I designed a  mounting bracket that will offer another axis of alignment , and will be easy to turn the reader around the post to a different aspect if needed for fine tuning the FOV of the antenna.

Next up is to install the Sirit readers on the pole mounts, and connect the slave reader cable , and the data cable

I pulled the slave interconnect cable through to one of the master readers , and mounted the slave antenna.
slightly different mount from the factory, interesting factory defect is the antenna is out of plumb, all brackets and poles are level and plumb, but the mounting bolts on the slave antenna are slightly off giving it a crooked aspect, this will have to be dealt with later.

First Continental access panel installed at Gatehouse

The existing access control system is a proximity card reader , with a Kantech access control processor.
For managing credentials, and managing history and forensic data the system is in it entirety unsuitable for enterprise level Vehicle ID access control. The original installation is a rats nest of wires some in use , som abandoned, and none labeled. A good portion of the next phase of this install will be to determine what wires are necessary, and land them in a sanitary, serviceable, installation. As you can see the original access panel is a   absolute mess.

During the installation of the new transponder system, it is essential to keep the existing system fully operational. We had decided to use the existing enclosures, as they were fit for our needs , and all existing wiring and conduits  fed to them. But the ability to fit both systems into the existing enclosure is definitely a challenge.

At one of the remote gate locations this is the existing access control  panel

I removed the Continental panel from the factory enclosure to fit it in the small space available

Old.... Meet- "New"

Started Mounting the Sirit Transponder Readers on the Gatehouses

Installed Antenna on  Exit lane, needed a different sort of mount to put the reader in the proper position to collect reads from exiting vehicles.

The last location that gets a transponder reader is a golf cart gate

Starting to trim the access panels , and power up the Sirit Readers
and Continental panels, program network settings.
All devices will be natively accessible via the LAN
